This is a Recruitment Pool to fill Permanent (Full Time, Part-Time, or Sessional), Fixed Term (Full Time, Part-Time, or Sessional) or Casual appointments.

About The Role

Western Australia County Health Service (WACHS) is actively recruiting a variety of Consultant Psychiatrists with a wealth of professional expertise across various psychiatric specialties including general adult, community, old age, child and adolescent, and addiction psychiatry. We are especially seeking candidates who are experienced in delivering comprehensive patient care across a variety of settings, including both hospital and community environments.

About The Pool

Joining the Consultant Psychiatry pool means submitting one application to be considered for multiple positions across WACHS throughout its duration. You can specify your preferred locations as listed below:
  • Goldfields region – Kalgoorlie
  • Great Southern – Albany
  • Kimberley - Broome
  • South West - Bunbury
  • Midwest - Geraldton
  • Pilbara – Port Hedland and Karratha and availability in your application.

This pool accepts applications from medical practitioners who hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or RANZCP trainees who are in their penultimate year of training and have completed all training requirements or Specialist International Medical Graduates who meet the Medical Board of Australia recently introduced the Expedited Specialist pathway. Applications without the possession of any of the above qualifications or not listed on the Medical Board of Australia - Expedited Specialist pathway: accepted qualification list will not be considered.

The applications submitted via this pool will be reviewed periodically. After the assessment of the applications, the Medical Recruitment Coordinator will contact you to discuss opportunities tailored to you and assist you throughout the recruitment process. If you are not ready to start immediately, your application can be accepted and reviewed to align with your plans. Appointments from this pool are available until 30/09/2027. It is also important to note that to be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector, it is essential that you are an Australian citizen or hold permanent residency status in Australia.

Remuneration

The advertised salary range is based on classifications under the WA Health System – Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2024. Classification and level are determined by factors including qualifications and experience.
  • Medical Practitioners on casual contracts may be entitled to professional development allowance providing you don’t hold a contract with another WA Health entity.

  • Generous Leave Entitlements - annual, professional development, long service, sick leave, and leave for compassionate or cultural reasons.
  • Employer-contributed superannuation – a 11.5% contribution every pay period, building a separate retirement fund! (subject to further percentage increases)
  • Gratuity Payment – Lump sum payment equivalent to 12 weeks’ salary after 3 years of continuous service. After each subsequent year of service, a lump sum payment of 4 weeks salary (specific locations only).
  • Range of employee-sponsored work visas including PR (conditions apply).
  • Relocation assistance for interstate and international applicants (negotiated on a case-by-case basis).
  • Entitled to capped flight pricing between Perth and the region.

  • Elaborate on your experience in or knowledge of rural and Indigenous health, as well as working with clients from a variety culture and ethnic groups. Please provide examples that demonstrate your expertise or knowledge in this area. (Pertains to EC3 & EC5)
  • A Comprehensive CV: an up-to-date CV that clearly outlines your experience in chronological order. Ensuring that the duration of employment in each role and any gaps in service are easily identified and explained. This will assist to better understand your career progression and the breath of your professional experience.
