Area Finance Manager - Lateral Move - Schools Finance Services Permanent Grade 5 - £41,511 - £49,764. Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Full Time / Part Time - (Full-time working 36.50 hours per week) This is an exciting opportunity to work within a vibrant Finance team, managing one of four teams within Schools Financial Services, overseeing school compliance and reporting, as well as managing a team of dedicated finance professionals. We are seeking an experienced finance manager with a proven track record to join Schools Financial Services, a trading organisation within Birmingham City Council with an annual income target, operating in a highly competitive market offering financial and business support services. You will work closely with colleagues across the Council, both in Finance and in the service, as well as with stakeholders, including customers.Further details about this opportunity:
  • This role requires a customer-focused outlook with responsibility for the strategic planning of financial resources as part of the Senior Management Team.
  • This role requires experience in leading and managing staff, establishing priorities, and directing both strategic and operational work to ensure effective service delivery to schools.
  • You will take a lead role in the delivery of the Local Authority's financial monitoring functions related to maintained schools, engaging with other service areas across the Directorate and beyond to minimize financial risks to Birmingham City Council.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, together with strategic financial management experience, are essential to support, advise, and challenge Headteachers, School Governors, and Interim Executive Boards in schools facing financial difficulties.
