The Role A confidential, global energy trading company is seeking a
Junior Gas, LNG & Power Trader to join its London-based team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop across
European gas, global LNG, and short-term power markets, supporting a desk that blends trading, operations, and analytics.
The role is suited to someone with
2–3 years of trading experience in gas and/or power and a
strong background in analytics who is eager to progress into a full cross-commodity trading mandate. From the outset, you will gain direct exposure to physical LNG, European gas hubs, and short-term power, with the chance to contribute meaningfully to trading performance.
Key Responsibilities - Trade and optimise spot and short-term LNG cargoes across Atlantic and European flows.
- Support European gas hub trading and short-term power dispatch optimisation.
- Assist senior traders in executing strategies across client flow, speculative opportunities, and cross-commodity spreads.
- Monitor and analyse gas and power fundamentals, supply-demand balances, and shipping capacity.
- Contribute to reporting, risk management, and operational processes within the trading team.
- Leverage analytical skills (Python, SQL, Excel VBA) to improve trading tools, processes, and decision-making.
The Team You will join a
collaborative trading group covering gas, LNG, and power markets. The team thrives on volatility, fundamentals, and cross-commodity dynamics, combining commercial trading, analytics, and operations to capture opportunities close to delivery. From day one, you’ll take on meaningful responsibility, working side-by-side with experienced traders and analysts, with structured development towards independent trading ownership.
Candidate Profile - 2–3 years’ experience in gas and/or power trading, operations, or analytics, ideally with physical market exposure.
- Strong analytical foundations; experience working with Python, SQL, or VBA highly desirable.
- Understanding of spot LNG, European gas hubs, and short-term power dynamics.
- Comfortable operating under small VaR limits, with a risk-aware approach.
- Excellent communicator, collaborative, and motivated to progress in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to relocate to London and build a long-term trading career.
