The Golden Elephant Indian restaurant is looking for an experienced chef with excellent commercial cooking skills for our busy restaurant.
Benefits Visa sponsorship is available for the suitable candidates depending upon experience, but skill assessment is required in the chef occupation.
Tasks & responsibilities - Indian curry chef must have sound knowledge of northern and southern curries
- Also have good experience on the tandoor.
- Have a full operational knowledge of all recipes, standards, portion sizes and presentation styles of dishes produced within the kitchen
- Assist in the creation of menus (taking into account food and labour costs),
- Discuss food preparation issues with the manager and other staff, and monitor the preparation and presentation of the dishes.
- Work with the management and set daily and weekly production levels for the kitchen.
- Maintain stock levels according to requirements of the business, and understand how this can have an effect on food costs
- Implement and ensure compliance with food hygiene standards and health and safety requirements
- Check the freshness and quality of the ingredients.
- Ensure the food prepared in the kitchen is of the highest possible standard.
- Be responsible for the supervision and training of any junior kitchen staff.
- Deal with food complaints efficiently.
Qualification & experience Certificate IV in commercial cookery minimum Skill assessment required as chef or cook At least 3 years full-time experience in commercial kitchen Excellent time management Experienced in working with management
