Here's what you can expect from this role:
- To refine, implement, and maintain Trade Me's AML/CFT Compliance Programme, which must be in place by 1 June 2025.
- Lead communications with external parties, including our AML/CFT supervisor (the Department of Internal Affairs), the Police Financial Intelligence Unit and any outsource providers.
- Develop systems to track and monitor our ML/TF risk, compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Develop team members' skills and abilities, team priorities managing workflows and resources, influencing a culture of AML/CFT compliance while acting as the senior escalation point for issues being addressed by the team
- Work collaboratively with peers and stakeholders to build authentic and trusted relationships across Trade Me. Listen, educate, influence, and proactively manage stakeholder expectations.
- Reviewing and updating Trade Me's AML/CTF Risk Assessment and Programme and procedural documents at least annually.
- Organise and lead Trade Me's AML/CFT audits every two years, including implementing any recommendations coming out of those audits.
- Monitoring developments and emerging issues in financial crime and AML/CTF laws and regulations and industry best practice.
Here's what you will bring to the role:
- You are an expert in AML/CTF compliance and may be currently working, have worked, or work directly with an AML/CFT Supervisor, an FIU, or in the area of financial crime.
- Experience with highly regulated businesses, industry bodies or regulators.
- Knowledge of the payments or finance industries.
- A strong and practical understanding of leading risk management practices and a commercial lens to risk management.
- Proven experience with internal and external stakeholder management.
- You have demonstrable experience designing and challenging processes, ideally across multiple products.
- You have a passion for improving current practices and processes and can apply different compliance strategies to develop multiple compliance frameworks.
- You get the job done. You have a sense of urgency and an ability to work well under pressure, prioritising, taking responsibility and working to tight deadlines.
- Ability to build effective relationships and influence others.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with ability to communicate with people in a range of positions.
