We're 100% employee-owned, so each one of us has a real say in shaping a more sustainable future. Here, your career is what you make it, whether that's through the projects you take on, the people you connect with, or the balance you build between work and life.

Our people make us who we are. We're big on collaboration, inclusivity, and creating an environment where everyone feels supported to achieve their goals. You'll find plenty of opportunities here to grow professionally and personally, working on diverse, meaningful projects that make a real impact.

Kei te hiahia mātou ki ōu | We want your skills

We're looking for curious and motivated Planning students to join us in early 2027! If you're ready to kick-start your career with our graduate programme that's leading the way in creating a more sustainable future, this is your chance.

Whether you're about to graduate or have recently completed your BUrbPlan(Hons), MUrbPlan, or PhD, and love working with others, and bring plenty of enthusiasm, you'll fit right in!

Interested in other Engineering roles or Science instead? We've got grad opportunities there too - check them out on our website.

Nā tōu rourou | What you'll bring

We're after grads who bring energy, curiosity, and collaboration to everything they do.

Ideally, you'll have:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a supportive, innovative team
  • A keen interest in developing your technical knowledge and learning how consultancy works
  • A curious mind and the ability to spot opportunities that deliver real value for clients
  • A GPA of 5+
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities would be a bonus (e.g. work experience, volunteering, sport, or clubs)
  • The right to work in New Zealand

And of course, you'll be in your final year or recently graduated with a BUrbPlan(Hons), MUrbPlan, or PhD in a relevant discipline.

Kei te whakapono mātou ki tō whanaketanga | We want to develop you

At Tonkin + Taylor, your growth is our focus. You'll be in the driver's seat of your development, with plenty of chances to learn from experts, explore new ideas, and take ownership of your career.

From your first day, you'll work alongside approachable and experienced colleagues, including senior engineers and scientists who are keen to support you.

You'll get access to:
  • Mentoring from industry leaders
  • Learning and development opportunities, both in-house and external
  • A structured graduate programme designed to help you confidently transition into professional life
  • Exposure to a range of projects, including large projects of national significance across New Zealand

You'll work on real projects that make a difference, learn from the best minds in the business, and build the skills to turn your potential into real-world impact.
