Restaurant is based in New Zealand, city Christchurch.We are looking for an experienced Chef who specializes in authentic South Indian cuisine. The chef will be responsible for preparing traditional dishes , ensuring consistent taste, quality, and presentation.Key Responsibilities.
- Prepare and cook authentic South Indian dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards.
- Expertly operate and manage dosa tawa and South Indian cooking equipment.
- Prepare fresh batters (dosa, idli), chutneys, and sambar daily.
- Maintain consistent taste, quality, and presentation of dishes.
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards are maintained.
- Monitor food stock and ingredients and inform management for ordering.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods.
- Assist in menu development and suggest new South Indian dishes if required.
- Train junior kitchen staff when necessary.
- Minimize food wastage and maintain proper portion control.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years experience as a South Indian Chef or Dosa Chef.
- Strong knowledge of traditional South Indian recipes and techniques.
- Experience with high-volume restaurant service.
- Ability to prepare fermented batters and authentic chutneys.
- Good time management and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Indian restaurants or hotels.
- Ability to prepare both vegetarian and non-vegetarian South Indian dishes.
- Experience with bulk preparation for dine-in and takeaway service.
