Head Chef - Goughs Bay Boat ClubFull-time salary $75,000–$85,000

Build something incredible on the shores of Lake EildonGoughs Bay Boat Club is entering an exciting new phase, and we're looking for a Head Chef who's ready to help build our kitchen goings on from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to shape a menu, a team, and a food identity in a venue with a loyal community and a stunning lakeside backdrop.If you're energised by the idea of creating systems, culture, and consistency from scratch - and leaving your mark on a growing regional venue - this role is for you.About the RoleAs our Head Chef, you'll take the lead in developing our entire food offering. You'll have the freedom to design a simple, reliable, member-friendly menu, build kitchen processes that work, and help us grow into something amazing.Key Responsibilities
  • Designing and delivering a consistent, approachable menu with seasonal specials
  • Building kitchen operations, systems, and workflows from the ground up
  • Developing strong relationships with local and regional suppliers
  • Managing ordering, stock control, food cost, and wage targets
  • Leading and mentoring a small kitchen team
  • Working closely with front of house to create a seamless restaurant experience
  • Ensuring full food safety compliance
  • Supporting club events, functions, and community activities
  • Helping shape the long-term direction of the Boat Club's food offering

What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or senior cook ready to step up
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations, cost control, and food safety
  • A builder's mindset - someone who enjoys creating structure, not just running it
  • Confidence in managing suppliers, budgets, and team performance
  • A collaborative approach to service, especially with front of house
  • Ability to work independently and maintain consistency
  • Flexibility across weekends, public holidays, and seasonal peaks
  • A genuine interest in regional living and community hospitality
  • Availability to commence in mid April
