Aston University invites applications for a fully funded PhD position commencing in October 2025. The project, titled “Digitalising Circular Supply Chains: Leveraging Smart Technologies for Enhanced Sustainability, Efficiency, and Resilience,” aims to advance the digital transformation of circular supply chains through innovative research and industry collaboration.
The successful candidate will engage in interdisciplinary research focusing on the integration of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and blockchain to improve traceability, circularity, and resilience in closed- and open-loop supply chains. The project involves close collaboration with industrial partners and policymakers, offering opportunities to contribute to academic publications and EU funding proposals.
Requirements
– Strong academic background in supply chain management, engineering, computer science, sustainability, or related fields
– Demonstrated interest in digitalisation and circular economy concepts
– Excellent research and analytical skills
– Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including industry and policy practitioners
– Open to UK and international applicants
