About The MARCS Institute 
The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development is an interdisciplinary research institute of Western Sydney University. The vision for the Institute is to optimise human interaction, and wellbeing across lifespan. We strive to solve the problems that matter most through the themes: sensing and perceiving, interacting with each other, and technologies for humans. Researchers in MARCS come from many disciplines including cognitive science, developmental psychology, language science, music science, cognitive neuroscience, and biomedical, electrical, electronic and software engineering. The Institute consists of three Research Areas - the International Centre for Neuromorphic Systems, Brain Sciences, and Biomedical and Human Technologies. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will join the Brain Sciences research program.

The Opportunity 
Are you passionate about memory and cognition in older adults and eager to contribute to impactful research? Western’s MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development is seeking to appoint an outstanding and innovative scholar as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Cognitive Science for 1 year. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on the cutting-edge project, “Memory Aid” with Associate Professor Celia Harris.

As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will conduct research into memory and cognition for older people and people with dementia. Working with Associate Professor Celia Harris, Professor Paul Breen, Dr Ruth Brookman, and Dr Simon Parker (Deakin University), your research will use quantitative and qualitative methods including interviews in aged care and community settings with older adults and people with dementia, including transcription, data analysis and coding. You will be involved in all aspects of the research, from designing, running, and analysing experiments to writing up high-quality articles in recognised journals and presenting findings at conferences.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 1 year based at Westmead Innovation Quarter.

About You
You have a doctoral qualification in Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field. You have expertise in conducting research with older participants, including people with dementia and in aged care settings, and you have a proven track record of publishing high-quality research and presenting at conferences. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills enable you to work effectively within a team.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level A $109,861 to $132,730 p.a. (comprising Salary of $92,834 to $112,158 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
