They will organize bus trays, dishware, silverware, and glassware on Queen Mary carts and ensure all necessary equipment and food items are available to waitstaff at the appropriate time. During plate-ups, they assist banquet and culinary staff by transporting trays, food, and hot boxes between the kitchen and service areas. After the function, Stewards will handle the breakdown process by returning full Queen Marys to the kitchen, scraping and rinsing soiled dishware, and loading items into dishwashing machines. They clean and sanitize china, glass, silver, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment; report any broken or damaged items for repair; and properly dispose of trash, maintaining the dumpster area and operating the trash compactor. Stewards are also responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in all back-of-the-house areas in accordance with Department of Health guidelines. Duties include mopping and sweeping floors, cleaning drains, walls, and stainless-steel surfaces, and ensuring sanitary food-handling conditions. They follow safe cleaning procedures using dishwashing and sanitation chemicals, wearing required protective gear such as gloves, back supports, and safety shoes. Work is performed indoors in hotel food and beverage areas, with exposure to humidity, heat, and cleaning agents. The work schedule is as follows: 35 hours per week. Workdays vary SundaySaturday, with rotating shifts including 7:00am3:30pm, 8:00am4:30pm, 9:00am5:30pm, 3:00pm11:30pm, 4:00pm12:30am, 10:00pm6:30am, and 11:00pm7:30am. Schedule changes weekly. All shifts are 8.5 hours, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. This position is governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The basic wage rate is $16.26 per hour upon hire. After 3 months of continuous employment, the wage increases to $17.17 per hour; after 6 months, it increases to $18.07 per hour. Effective October 1, 2026, the base wage rate increases to $18.57 per hour. The employer may, at its discretion, provide wage increases based on experience, tenure, performance, market conditions, and/or as outlined in the CBA. Overtime hours may be available at $24.39 per hour. Effective October 1, 2026, overtime will be paid at $27.86 per hour. An overtime premium will be paid when Work performed by an employee in excess of eight hours in a workday (ten hours for employees working a four ten-hour workweek), 40 hours in any one workweek, or on the sixth or seventh day of work in the same workweek, shall be considered as overtime, and compensation shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half times his/her regular hourly rate, unless such sixth or seventh day is voluntary in order to secure more hours of work. Overtime at time and one-quarter shall be paid for all hours worked on the eighth consecutive day of work with time and one-half for hours worked on the ninth consecutive day of work, and double time on the tenth and continuing consecutive days (eleventh, twelfth, etc.) of work regardless of workweek. (These provisions for premium pay on a sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth and continuing consecutive days of work set forth in the CBA are waived for any employee requesting to work such a schedule.)
