We are looking for an experienced Full-time chef to join our team at Rubika Cafe&Bar located in the heart of Hawthorn In addition to cooking during busy service and organise all the prep, you will be required to fulfil the following responsibilities
- Design seasonal menu (we have rotating weekly specials)
- Assist head chef with preparation of High Tea and brainstorm new ideas
- Manage, motivate, lead and develop our small kitchen team
- Delegate the tasks to the kitchen staff and communicate with the wait staff on daily specials
- Maintain a high standard of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness in accordance with company standards
- Inspect raw and cooked food items to guarantee the highest quality products are prepared and served to customers
- Manage food costs and supplier management to budget
- Monitor Labor cost
- Manage and maintain ordering of stock and produce
- Implementation of health and safety procedures in the kitchen
- Collaborate with management to align kitchen operations with the overarching goals of the company
Job Requirements and necessary experience
- Qualified Chef or equivalent with a minimum of one years experience within a fast paced environment
- Australian qualification of Certificates III and IV in Commercial Cookery or positive Trade Skill Assessment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with restaurant staff and management
- Detailed knowledge of health and safety standards
- Excellent communication skills (good English language skills are a must have)
- Flexible availability across weekdays, weekends and public holidays
