THE LOCATION:

THE ROLE:
Our client in Garran, ACT are seeking a skilled Senior Scientist who is specialised in Immunopathology to join their progressive Allied Health team, in a Permanent, Full-time position.
The laboratory is open 24/7, offering a wide range of testing. The successful candidate will be required to work nominal hours Monday to Friday. There will also be a requirement to participate in the out of hours roster and overtime as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and operation of the Autoimmune subsection.
- Maintain Immunopathology operational policies and procedures and monitor internal and external quality control.
- Undertake verification studies and implement new assays into the laboratory
- Lead, motivate and train scientific and junior medical staff.
- Collaborate with the Chief Scientist and Director of Immunopathology.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the Organisation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent) in Medical Laboratory Science, Diagnostic Pathology or Applied Science.
- The successful applicant may need to be available for weekend and after-hours work including participation in a 24/7 on-call roster.
Desired:
- Have an understanding of how the National Standards and Quality Health Service.
EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
- A minimum of five years’ experience working professionally in a diagnostic laboratory, including experience within Immunopathology.
- Must have a minimum of two years’ experience interpreting a range of Indirect Immunofluorescence assays (for example Tissue antibodies, Anti- Skin antibodies).
