Program Overview Handshake is recruiting exceptional doctoral students, candidates, and graduates in
Material Science to join our AI research community. This program brings subject-matter experts together to enhance the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) within specialized domains and subdomains. The MOVE program runs year-round, though project availability will vary by domain.

Program Details - This is a fully remote, asynchronous position - work independently from anywhere, on your own schedule.

- Project work includes designing and solving advanced material science problems that require multi-step reasoning, and testing them with AI models to ensure they are appropriately challenging.
Who Should Apply - PhD students, postdocs, or recent PhDs in materials science with experience in polymers, metals and ceramics, energy materials, or nanomaterials.
- Able to participate in primarily asynchronous work in partnership with leading AI labs.
- Believe your expertise can outmatch current AI systems in understanding and explaining key concepts in your field.
This program is open to U.S.-based doctoral students, candidates, and recent graduates with valid work or training authorization (e.g., F-1/OPT, J-1, H-1B). Participants are responsible for ensuring compliance with their visa conditions and confirming eligibility with their program or visa sponsor prior to applying.
Compensation - Compensation is $75/hr
