Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to represent our organisation and take technical ownership of field instrumentation, control loops, telemetry systems, and PLC/SCADA interfaces.Operating on a favorable
8:6 FIFO roster flying out of Perth, you will bridge hardware-level instrumentation and supervisory control systems within our client’s operational environment. Core Responsibilities
- Field Instrumentation & Calibration: Oversee specification, installation, calibration, and maintenance of field instruments (flow, level, pressure, temperature transmitters, and control valves).
- Control Loop Tuning & Logic: Program, modify, and optimize PLC/SCADA control logic and PID loops to enhance process stability and throughput.
- Industrial Telemetry & Networks: Maintain and troubleshoot site fieldbus networks (Profibus, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, Ethernet/IP) and telemetry communications.
- Site Fault Finding & Commissioning: Diagnose complex hardware/software interfacing faults and lead commissioning activities for plant upgrades and brownfield expansions.
- Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS): Ensure compliance with functional safety standards (IEC 61508 / IEC 61511) and maintain hazardous area compliance documentation.
- Client Engagement & Maintenance Alignment: Partner closely with on-site maintenance superintendents, process technicians, and client reliability teams to minimize unscheduled plant downtime.
Selection Criteria
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- I&C Field Experience: Proven commercial experience in instrumentation, loop tuning, and control systems within heavy industrial, mining, or processing environments.
- Technical Mastery: Solid understanding of field devices, PID control strategies, and programming major PLC platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, or Schneider).
- Industrial Protocols: Practical knowledge of industrial communication protocols and instrumentation diagnostics.
- Location & FIFO Readiness: Based in (or willing to relocate to) Western Australia to swing on an 8:6 FIFO roster ex-Perth. Holds a valid WA Construction Induction (White Card) or ability to obtain one prior to site mobilization.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- EEHA (Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas) certification or awareness.
- Functional Safety (TÜV Rheinland) certification or exposure.
- Working knowledge of SCADA/HMI platforms (Citect, Ignition, Wonderware/AVEVA).
