Position SummaryFlavin Naturals is seeking a Chief Research Scientist to provide scientific leadership and strategic direction across its research and development programs. This senior, permanent role is responsible for driving innovation in nano-enabled nutraceuticals, nanoencapsulation technologies, and plant-based bioactive enhancement, from early-stage research through to product development and translation.Flavin Naturals welcomes applications from Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and qualified international candidates. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the research and development strategy for nutraceutical and agri-biotechnology programs
• Design and implement nanoencapsulation technologies to enhance stability, bioavailability, and controlled delivery of nutraceutical bioactives
• Develop and optimize nanoparticle- and nanofertilizer-based approaches to improve plant growth and secondary metabolite production
• Integrate sustainable nano-enabled agricultural inputs with downstream nutraceutical product pipelines
• Establish and validate in vitro and alternative testing methodologies for efficacy and safety assessment, reducing reliance on animal testing
• Supervise grant writing activities, research staff, students, and technical personnel, while providing scientific mentorship
• Prepare technical documentation, regulatory support materials, patents, grant applications, and peer-reviewed scientific publications
• Collaborate with academic institutions, industry partners, and regulatory stakeholders in Canada and internationally

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Nanobiotechnology, Bioengineering, Agricultural Sciences, or a closely related discipline
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive research experience in academia, industry, or applied R&D
• Demonstrated expertise in:
• Nanoparticle synthesis and characterization
• Nanoencapsulation systems for nutraceuticals
• Nano-enabled fertilizers or seed/plant priming technologies
• Enhancement of plant secondary metabolites
• Strong record of peer-reviewed publications, patents, or funded research
• Proven experience managing or leading research programs or teams

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with animal or human cell culture systems
• Familiarity with New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), including advanced in vitro or microphysiological systems
• Experience working in multidisciplinary or international research environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
