The UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology Department of Clinical and Movement Neurosciences is a world-leading group that brings together expertise across the clinical and basic science spectrum of the physiology and pathology of human movement and movement disorders.
The Department offers excellent training in research for clinical and non-clinical students wishing to obtain higher degrees. We have excellent well-funded and modern multidisciplinary facilities for studying cellular and animal models, human volunteers and patients with neurological disorders.
About The Role
We are recruiting a Clinical Research Fellow in Neurology and Neurogenetics to develop a research project related to the improved understanding and treatment of Parkinson’s disease and related movement disorders such as PSP, CBD and MSA.
You will be based at the UCL Movement Disorders Centre, spanning the Royal Free and Queen Square sites, and will develop and execute a research project in Parkinson’s disease/related disorder biology related to the analysis of genetics and clinical data under the supervision of Professor Huw Morris. The project will include training in data analysis related to biomarkers, genetics and pathology data and there will be training in patient assessment as part of clinical trials protocols.
This international project will recruit over 300,000 participants and the researcher will liaise closely with Cohort Integration and Parkinson’s Plus working group members, and the other working groups of GP2 including Monogenic, Under-represented populations, and a data analysis working group. Ultimately, we will build an open access resource for Parkinson’s researchers accessible through the AMP-PD/Terra/Verily platform.
There will be the possibility of commencing a higher degree (PhD) as part of the role.
An honorary contract will be sought from UCLH and Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, for which a DBS check will be required.
The post is available immediately and funded from grants awarded to Professor Huw Morris until 31 July 2026.

About You
You’ll be a registered medical practitioner licensed to practise in the UK and have experience in clinical and/or basic science research at in Neurology at SHO (NTN) level or above. Good clinical, communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills with a methodical approach to gathering data are also essential for this role.
This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
What we offer
The role is offered in the range of £48,580 - £75,038 per annum including London Allowance, on the CL, RDPS, or StR scale, dependent on NHS contract and/or stage of clinical training.
