Independent Prescribing at UWE Bristol is located in the interdisciplinary School of Health and Social Wellbeing. We offer a suite of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes representing the diverse landscape of health and social care, delivered regionally and nationally.
As a Programme team we are focused on the delivery of high-quality teaching and excellent student experience, coupled with outstanding research, all delivered with a strong emphasis on the application of academic understanding to contemporary Independent Prescribing practice. Due to our continuing success, we are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic individual (Pharmacist) to join the Independent Prescribing academic team.
The Independent and/or Supplementary Prescribing programme offers many opportunities for all professions to learn with and from each other both in the academic and practice settings. It is also recognised that nurses, Allied Health Professionals and pharmacists have different pathways to registration, and develop different skills, experiences and competencies in practice before joining the prescribing programme.
Working effectively with colleagues, you will be expected to contribute to a learning environment where students have the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to practice as safe competent and autonomous prescribers.
This role will include planned occasional travel across the South West for the delivery of face to face teaching sessions.
About You
We are looking for individual to join our successful and highly committed multi-professional Independent Prescribing team. The Independent Prescribing team participate in teaching, assessing and supporting multi-professional learners across the South West of England.
Successful candidates will have a high level of insight into contemporary prescribing practice, knowledge of the contemporary theories and concepts which underpin independent prescribing practice, as well as applied pharmacology.
We currently have one permanent 1.0 FTE Senior Lecturer (Pharmacist) post available. We are looking for individuals who meet the essential and/or desirable criteria for this role.
Where is this role based?
This post is based at our Glenside Campus which is set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre. Regular bus services link the campus to the main Frenchay site, the city centre and surrounding areas, and nearby Bristol Parkway train station.
