This position is a full-time position, commencing 1 February 2027 for 12 months with possible extension.  Canberra Health Services (CHS) is focussed on the delivery of high quality, effective, person-centred care. It provides acute, sub-acute, primary and community‐based health services, to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding regions. More information can be found on the CHS website. Medical Staff in the Canberra Health Services enjoy excellent conditions, and our Enterprise Agreement is available at: ACTPS Medical Practitioners Enterprise Agreement 2023 - 2026 The ACT Physician Training Network encompasses the Canberra Hospital Woden Campus, North Canberra Hospital, Goulburn Base Hospital and Southeastern Regional Hospital (Bega). We have over 73 Basic Physician Trainees (BPTs) and over 40 Advanced Trainees in all medical specialties. The Physician Training office is led by the Network Director of Physician Education (NDPE) and supported by a Medical Education Support Officer (MESO). The Senior Medical Registrars (SMRs) are important leadership positions in CHS network and will work alongside the campus Directors of Physician Education (DPE) and Medical Education Support Officer (MESOs) to deliver a high-quality physician education and training program in line with the RACP curriculum. The SMRs will represent junior medical staff by acting as representatives on committees such as the ACT Network Physician Training Committee. The SMRs will assist with BPT recruitment, term allocations and rostering. The roles will be split into an administrative/educational component (0.5FTE) and clinical component (0.5FTE). The SMR’s clinical duties will be negotiated with reference to the applicant’s specific training needs as part of their overall specialty advanced training. There will be also opportunities for undertaking research and teaching at the ANU Medical School.  The position would most suit an advanced trainee in general medicine at any level but a senior trainee in another discipline aiming to acquire more expertise in medical education would also be highly regarded.
