  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner who can provide high quality teaching to GCSE level.
  • Be effective in using data/strategies to raise levels of achievement and challenge underperformance.
  • Have an effective approach to behaviour management.
  • Have knowledge of the current educational landscape, government initiatives, OFSTED requirements and implications for academy direction.
  • Contribute to the activities of designated curriculum areas.
  • Undertake the role of form tutor, as required.

Alongside your teaching role, as a Second in Department you will report to the Curriculum Leader and will have line management responsibilities for designated teaching staff. You will be a member of the Academy Raising Attainment Board (RAB) and the Learning Assurance Board (LAB), representing your faculty colleagues in the RAB and LAB and championing the subjects within your faculty. You will oversee raising attainment activities across the faculty, contribute to the academy Raising Attainment Strategy to ensure the strategy is fully implemented across the faculty, ensuring improvement targets are met and conducting rigorous quality assurance. As a member of the LAB you will be contributing to faculty and whole school Teaching and Learning Policy, and ensuring policies are implemented driving the work of the LAB across the faculty.
