Job Description:
The Opportunity
An opportunity is available for a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist ready to step into a role defined by growth, possibility, and professional momentum. This position offers the chance to practise broad, high-quality anaesthesia within a major regional service that continues to evolve and expand.
You will provide anaesthetic care across elective and emergency services, supporting a wide range of surgical and medical activity. This role is well suited to anaesthetists seeking clinical variety, stability, and the excitement of being part of a service in an active phase of renewal.
The Hospital
This is a major regional hospital of approximately 250 to 300 beds delivering comprehensive acute care to its community and surrounding region. The hospital provides emergency medicine, surgery, maternity, paediatrics, rehabilitation, dialysis, oncology services, and peri-operative care.
The service has undergone extensive redevelopment in recent years, resulting in modern facilities, contemporary clinical spaces, and consolidated services within a single hospital campus. The anaesthetic department is well established, supported by experienced consultants, multidisciplinary teams, and strong clinical infrastructure, creating a secure and forward-looking environment for practice.
The Location
The role is based in a coastal regional centre where sunshine, open space, and a relaxed pace of life shape everyday living. The area offers clean air, scenic waterways, and easy access to beaches, islands, and national parks.

The Requirements
Applicants will meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Hold or be eligible for Specialist Registration with AHPRA
- Have at least 12 months recent experience working as an Anaesthetist
- Be on the ANZCA training program and approaching Fellowship
- Hold Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA)
- International Medical Graduates eligible for recognised ANZCA pathways, including Competent Authority jurisdictions
- International Medical Graduates with a confirmed ANZCA interview date
- International Medical Graduates already assessed by ANZCA and found to be substantially comparable
