About the RoleReporting directly to the General Manager – Farming, you will provide professional veterinary services across Hazeldenes' poultry farming operations and play a key role in maintaining flock health, animal welfare, biosecurity and production performance.This is a genuine ongoing position supporting our integrated poultry operations across multiple farming locations in Victoria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and assess the health, welfare and productivity of breeder and broiler flocks.
  • Conduct routine veterinary inspections and flock health assessments.
  • Diagnose, investigate and treat poultry diseases, illnesses and injuries.
  • Develop, implement and review preventative health management and vaccination programs.
  • Conduct post-mortem examinations and investigate disease outbreaks where required.
  • Develop treatment plans and provide veterinary recommendations to farming management.
  • Monitor flock performance, mortality and health data, identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Provide specialist advice on poultry nutrition, gut health, disease prevention and flock management practices.
  • Develop, implement and monitor biosecurity programs across farming operations.
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare legislation, veterinary standards, food safety requirements and company policies.
  • Conduct veterinary audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate veterinary records, treatment records and regulatory documentation.
  • Liaise with diagnostic laboratories, regulatory authorities and industry specialists where required.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to farm managers and farming personnel on poultry health and welfare.
  • Stay current with developments in poultry veterinary medicine, emerging diseases and industry best practice.



About YouTo be successful in this role you will have:
  • A recognised Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent veterinary qualification.
  • Current registration, or eligibility for registration, as a Veterinarian in Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial poultry production, preferably broiler breeder and broiler operations.
  • Strong knowledge of poultry diseases, flock health management, vaccination programs and poultry production systems.
  • Sound understanding of poultry biosecurity, animal welfare and food safety requirements.
  • Excellent diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with farm managers and operational teams.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Current Australian Driver Licence or the ability to obtain one.
