Open Rank Clinical (Assistant/Associate/Full) Professor, Director of BSW Field Education School of Social Work Job Summary:
The School of Social Work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking a dynamic colleague for a 12-month, non-tenure track, Open Rank Clinical (Assistant/Associate/Full) Professor position. This is a full-time, twelve-month specialized faculty position that requires predominantly in-person work on the Urbana campus. The Director of BSW Field Education provides leadership for the field education program by drawing on practice experience, field instruction experience, and administrative responsibilities. The role includes overseeing student practicum placements, supporting field instructors, supervising members of the BSW Field Team, and managing the policies and activities required for high quality social work field education.

The role consists of 50% administrative duties as the Director of BSW Field Education; 40% responsibilities to teaching/field liaison; 5% service, and 5% scholarship.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in social work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program. Minimum of three years of post-MSW social work practice experience. Licensed Social Worker in Illinois or eligible for licensure at the time of application, with LCSW preferred. Experience providing supervision in a social work agency or educational setting, including supervision of students, interns, or staff. Experience with field education processes such as placement coordination, student advising, or agency partnership development (aligned with CSWE expectations for field leadership). Experience teaching in higher education. Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and community partners; and ability to travel, primarily within Illinois.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience as a field instructor, faculty field liaison, or educator in a social work program. Experience working in a university or college setting. Experience with CSWE accreditation processes and/or assessment of student learning outcomes. Current LCSW in Illinois. Experience collaborating with community agencies or professional organizations.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time, non-tenure track, Open Rank Clinical (Assistant/Associate/Full) Professor position, appointed on a 12-month service basis. The ideal expected start date is April 16, 2026.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $76,389 – 80,000 at the Clinical Assistant Professor level, $80,000 – 88,000 at the Clinical Associate Professor level, and $88,000 – 90,000 at the Clinical Professor level, for a 12-month service basis. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
