Speech Pathologist (Paediatric & Community Services – NDIS) Employer: EDS Support Australia Pty Ltd Position: Speech Pathologist Employment Type: Full-Time (Part-Time may be considered) Location: Mareeba, Far North Queensland, with regular travel throughout Cairns, Tablelands, Cape York and surrounding regional, remote and very remote communities. We are committed to delivering culturally safe, person-centred and evidence-based services across metropolitan, regional, remote and very remote communities. ________________________________________ Position Summary The Speech Pathologist will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, intervention and ongoing therapy services for children with developmental delays, communication disorders, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, neurological conditions and other complex needs. The role primarily supports children funded through the NDIS and community programs while working collaboratively with families, schools, childcare centres, healthcare providers and multidisciplinary teams. This position requires extensive community outreach and travel throughout Far North Queensland, including remote and very remote communities. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities The Speech Pathologist will: • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, communication, literacy and swallowing assessments. • Assess children presenting with developmental delays and complex communication needs. • Complete functional assessments that support NDIS access and plan reviews. • Develop evidence-based therapy plans aligned with participant goals. • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions. • Provide early childhood intervention services. • Prepare high-quality clinical reports, assessment reports, progress reports and therapy recommendations. • Develop communication strategies for home, school and community environments. • Prescribe and implement Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems where appropriate. • Educate parents, carers, teachers and support workers. • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences. • Liaise with paediatricians, GPs, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, educators and support coordinators. • Maintain accurate documentation consistent with NDIS Practice Standards. • Provide outreach services across regional, remote and very remote communities. • Deliver services via clinic, home visits, schools, childcare centres, community settings and telehealth where appropriate. • Participate in quality improvement activities and professional development. ________________________________________ Essential Selection Criteria Applicants must possess: Qualifications • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Speech Pathology. • Eligibility for Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status with Speech Pathology Australia. Experience • Minimum two (2) years' clinical experience (desirable). • Experience assessing and treating children with communication disorders. • Experience working within the NDIS. • Experience working in community-based allied health services. • Demonstrated experience completing functional assessments and clinical reports. • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Skills • Excellent assessment and clinical reasoning skills. • Strong report writing ability. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently. • Effective time management. • Strong organisational skills. • Ability to manage a varied caseload. • High level of cultural awareness. • Commitment to evidence-based practice.
