Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
We seek an ambitious colleague who will augment our existing strengths in quantitative ecology teaching, outreach, and research. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent teaching and mentoring skills, and have advanced understanding of, quantitative ecology and field ecology in a New Zealand setting. Applicants must have a strong laboratory and/or field component to their research, and address basic and/or applied questions, and the ability to work and lead interdisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded research programme, for which there are a variety of basic and applied contexts in Aotearoa New Zealand. They will also develop research linkages with research institutes, industry, or charitable/community groups, and experience working with interdisciplinary teams in a New Zealand context would be advantageous. The University and School have a strong interest and strategic investment in environmental science, and we are especially motivated to receive applications from candidates who will be a key part of our research, teaching and community engagement in this field.

Mōu | Who You Are
Applicants should have a PhD or an appropriate equivalent qualification in biological sciences, an ability and willingness to deliver high quality teaching in quantitative and field ecology at an undergraduate and postgraduate level, and a commitment to do world-class research in an area complementary to current strengths within Te Kura Pūtaiao Koiora | School of Biological Sciences.

You will demonstrate the potential for academic excellence in teaching and research, be able to conduct innovative and effective lectures and laboratory/field classes from first year through postgraduate level, publish research at a high level as assessed by peer-reviewed publications, and, where appropriate, demonstrate impacts for community stakeholders. We are looking for an adaptable and collaborative colleague who can work with others to embrace opportunities that contribute to our mission.

This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Academic Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following salary scale applies:

Lecturer $92,334 - $111,388 p.a and Senior Lecturer $117,241 - $132,971 p.a.
