Salary: £88,500 - £121,650 per annum Location: Cambridge, Hybrid (2 – 3 days per week in the office) Contract: Fixed term 23 months, ideally starting from mid/late January 2025 – 35 hours a week Cambridge University Press & Assessment Finance department is launching a new strategy to support our £1 billion revenue growth. Following a comprehensive review of operations, we are initiating a multi-year change and technology programme. We are looking for a Finance Strategic Implementation Director to oversee the planning and execution of our finance transformation. In this senior position, reporting to the Finance Transformation Director, you will interact with senior stakeholders, manage the programme structure, ensure adoption of the new model, and coordinate strategic initiatives to meet our strategic objectives. About the role Join our team as we transform our finance operations. As a key member of the global Finance SLT, you will:
  • Shape and support our vision and target operating model.
  • Develop and implement strategic roadmaps and business requirements.
  • Coordinate strategic initiatives across the business.
  • Establish and manage teams to deliver programme outcomes.
  • Partner with Technology teams for architectural improvements.
  • Lead finance transformation and other strategic programmes.
  • Recruit and manage resources for initiatives.
  • Secure budget and funding approvals.
  • Ensure adoption of new systems and processes.
  • Communicate the case for change to secure investment support.
  • Act as a hands-on Programme Director with expertise in shared service set-up and optimisation.
  • Provide progress updates to the CFO and stakeholders.
  • Adjust the strategic vision based on requirements and blueprints.

About you We are looking for a highly qualified professional with a degree in commerce, business, accounting, or IT, or equivalent experience. You should have significant experience in finance and change management, including setting up finance shared service centres, delivering technical, people, and process changes, and managing senior-level stakeholders. Familiarity with accounting systems, particularly SAP, and a strong drive for delivering results while managing change are crucial. The ideal candidate will also have project management expertise and cultural awareness in working with international service centres.
