Duties may include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, milking, castrating, branding, weighing, catching, and loading animals. May maintain records on animals; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; assist in birth deliveries; and administer medications or vaccinations as appropriate. May clean and maintain animal housing areas. Drive a tractor/payloader for manure removal if needed. Approximately 70% of the cattle on the feedlot are owned by Reigle Cattle Co., LLC. The cattle are held at the feedlot for approximately 6 months, after which they are brought to meatpacking plants. The H-2A workers themselves will not participate in bringing the cattle to the meatpacking plants. The work day may begin / end earlier or later on any given day and evening. Typical workweek is Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and every other weekend. Potential nights and weekends required depending on the weather and business needs.
