Registrar - Trainee - Paediatrics - Clinical Haematology & Medical Oncology Pool

This is a Recruitment Pool for various positions for Fixed Term Full-Time

Closing Date: 4:00pm AWST 06 June 2025

This is an exceptional opportunity to join the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) in one of our Paediatric Clinical Haematology & Medical Oncology Trainee Positions.

This centralised recruitment process allows applicants to submit ONE application to be both our Paediatric Advanced Trainee Oncology positions. Please ensure you read and follow the application instructions outlined.

We currently have one position available for commencement in August 2025.

We will have other positions available in 2026. 12 month appointments from this process will primarily commence in February 2026 and 6 month Appointments will commence in February 2026 and August 2026.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 28/11/2025.

Contracts of up to 12 months may be offered with the possibility of extension(s), at the discretion of the Employer.

Position Profiles

This recruitment process is for a number of advanced trainees in Paediatric Medical Oncology, are planning to commence advanced training in Paediatric Medical Oncology or require a period of training in Paediatric Medical Oncology for other closely affiliated specialities such as but not limited to Paediatric Clinical Haematology or Paediatric Palliative Care. The roles are suitable for experienced Paediatric Trainees looking to further their leadership, skills and experience in this speciality area and pursue a career in Paediatric Haematology Oncology. Registrar - Trainee - Paediatrics - Clinical Haematology & Medical Oncology (500197)

The trainee will assume a leading role in the management of both inpatients and outpatients within the Departments of Clinical Oncology and Haematology, in addition to undertaking other clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities as directed by the Head of Department. This clinical leadership role will be carried out under the direct supervision of the responsible consultant of the area. The trainee will also be expected to contribute to the education and mentorship of registrars, advanced trainees, and junior medical officers rotating through the department. The primary objective of this training is to enable the trainee to develop the skills and experience necessary to function independently as a consultant in oncology.

Registrar - Trainee - Paediatrics - Medical Oncology (520718)

To manage inpatients and outpatients in the Departments of Clinical Oncology & Haematology and undertake other clinical, teaching and research duties as directed by the Head of Department. The trainee will execute these duties under direct supervision of senior oncology trainee and responsible consultant of the area. The primary objective of the training is to allow the trainee to assess their aptitude and interest in undertaking further specialised training in the field of oncology.

The pool allows applicants to submit ONE application to be assessed for both positions listed above, for employment as an Advanced Trainee.

You will be assessed based on: Curriculum Vitae (CV), cover letter, selection criteria, and an interview (if shortlisted).

You will only need to complete one set of questions addressing the Essential criteria once and if shortlisted, complete one interview, for all positions listed.

The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) treats children from around Western Australia and is committed to programs that promote lifelong health in children and adolescents. CAHS is made up of Neonatology, Community Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and Perth Children’s Hospital.

Eligibility To Apply

To be considered for these positions you must be eligible for registration by the medical board of Australia and must have completed at least 12 months full-time equivalent of Paediatric Advanced Training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, or overseas equivalent, by the time of appointment in February 2026.

NOTE: Applications that do not meet the above eligibility criteria will be considered ineligible and therefore not progress further.
