As a Lecturer in Contemporary Art at VCA Art, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of art education. You'll have the opportunity to develop and deliver high-quality curricula for the Master of Contemporary Art program, engage in research-informed teaching, and contribute to the vibrant arts community. Your expertise and passion for contemporary art will directly influence the development of emerging artists, preparing them for successful professional careers.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Deliver Innovative Curriculum: Create and maintain high-quality course materials, deliver engaging workshops and lectures, and implement innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Mentor and Assess Students: Provide guidance to students, conduct assessments, and foster their artistic development through curricula and extra-curricular activities.
  • Contribute to Research and Engagement: Participate in artistic research programs, engage with the professional arts sector, and contribute to the intellectual debate within the discipline.
  • Support Faculty Initiatives: Actively participate in key VCA Art events, contribute to program planning, and support the Faculty's strategic goals and initiatives.

You may be a great fit if:

You are an active and well-respected artist with a PhD in contemporary art practice or equivalent professional experience, possessing strong teaching skills and the ability to work collaboratively in shaping the future of art education.

You may also:
  • Have a PhD in contemporary art practice or equivalent professional experience.
  • Possess significant teaching and coordination experience in an art school context, particularly at the Master's level.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to innovation in curriculum design and teaching methods.
  • Have a record of scholarship and research with locally recognised standing in your field.
  • Show the ability to provide leadership in fostering excellence in teaching.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the capacity to engage with various stakeholders.
