We are currently looking for physically fit Field Technicians to support multiple geophysics field crews on the Borumba Pumped Hydro Energy Storage Project, one of Queensland’s most significant infrastructure projects.
This role assists our experienced Geophysicists perform their surface-based geophysical investigation work.It involves some lifting and positioning of equipment so would suit someone who is physically fit and enjoys being outdoors.
This role is a maximum term contract, expected to be 3 months’ duration.Ongoing work may be an option.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be working with a crew led an experienced Geophysicist, supporting surface-based geophysical investigations.
As a Field Technician You Will Be
- Mainly working outdoors for every day that you are on shift
- Assisting with laying out equipment used for geophysical surveying
- Packing up and moving equipment to various locations as determined by the Geophysicist
- Working across a variety of topographical conditions (tracks, slopes, vegetation, uneven terrain)
- Some work in a laboratory environment (e.g. storing samples)
Roster, travel & location
- Brisbane-based role working on the Borumba Project, with transport to site provided from Brisbane
- 10 days on / 4 days off rotating roster
- Up to 12-hour shifts while on site
- Away from home while on swing, staying in a fully serviced onsite camp
What We’re Looking For
This role suits people who are fit, reliable, and comfortable with working outdoors.Ideally you will have experience in a similar role, or have a background in geophysics / geotechnical work, or a keen interest in these fields.
You Must
- Be physically fit
- Enjoy working outdoors in all conditions
- Be able to follow instructions and enjoy working with others
- Have a current Driver’s Licence
- Be happy working away from home on a roster.
- No training needed beforehand - you’ll be working alongside experienced leaders and geophysicists who will show you the ropes
