If you have strong expertise in protection, control, and automation systems, this is your opportunity to join a future-facing energy environment in the Netherlands.  About the RoleAs a Secondary Systems Engineer, you’ll design, develop, and optimise control and protection systems that ensure the safe and reliable operation of high-voltage infrastructure. You’ll work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale projects that power the future of European energy. Your Key Responsibilities
  • Design secondary systems for HV substations, including protection, control, and automation
  • Develop and review technical documentation: single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring layouts
  • Define system specifications and ensure compliance with relevant European standards
  • Select and configure protection relays, SCADA systems, and automation solutions
  • Perform studies on protection settings and coordination
  • Support testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
  • Collaborate with primary system engineers, clients, and project managers

What You Bring
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in high-voltage substation secondary design
  • Proficiency in protection relays, SCADA, and automation systems
  • Skilled in CAD tools and substation design software
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
  • Fluent in English, comfortable with Afrikaans, and willing to learn a bit of Dutch (or at least how to pronounce “stroopwafel” properly)
