Job Description:
Consultant Medical Oncologist | Comprehensive Tertiary Cancer Service | Northern Territory
The Opportunity
We are working closely with the Oncology service within a major tertiary referral hospital in the Northern Territory and are keen to connect with FRACP-qualified Medical Oncologists interested in a full-time role within a comprehensive and well-supported cancer service.
The position offers involvement across inpatient and outpatient oncology, chemotherapy supervision and multidisciplinary tumour board participation within a structured tertiary framework. The service supports a geographically vast and culturally diverse population, delivering meaningful regional cancer care.
This role will appeal to Oncologists seeking clinical breadth, system impact and recognised cancer centre-level infrastructure.
The Cancer Service
The hospital operates as the primary public provider of comprehensive cancer care for the region.
Services include:
  • Medical Oncology
  • On-site Radiation Oncology
  • Dedicated chemotherapy facilities
  • Haematology collaboration
  • Multidisciplinary tumour board framework
  • Allied health and supportive care integration
  • Advanced imaging capability including on-site PET radioisotope production

The service enables patients to receive the majority of their treatment locally, with structured interstate referral pathways for highly specialised therapies when required.
Private oncology services operate within the broader metropolitan health network, offering additional collaborative opportunities.
Why Consider This Role
  • Comprehensive tertiary cancer service
  • On-site Radiation Oncology
  • Dedicated chemotherapy capability
  • Advanced imaging and PET infrastructure
  • Large regional and remote catchment
  • Strong MDT integration
  • Substantially comparable pathway supported

For interstate or international applicants, the RACP specialist assessment and AHPRA registration pathway can be clearly structured and supported.
The Location
Based in Australia’s northern capital, the city offers short commute times, year-round warmth and immediate access to coastline and national parks. Consultants benefit from metropolitan infrastructure combined with a distinctive outdoor lifestyle.
Requirements
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) – Medical Oncology
  • Specialist Registration with AHPRA (or eligibility)
  • International Medical Graduates assessed by RACP as partially or substantially comparable
