Job Description:
St. Burgs is seeking an exceptional and highly experienced Cook for our fast-paced kitchen operations. We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in high-volume restaurants and expert knowledge of Filipino cuisine, particularly Filipino street food, grilled meats, burgers, fried chicken, barbecue, and regional specialties.Essential requirements (applications that do not meet all criteria will not be considered) Qualifications and certificationsCertificate IV in Commercial Cookery (mandatory)Diploma of Hospitality Management (highly preferred)Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (mandatory)Current Food Handling CertificateValid Australian work rightsFirst Aid and CPR certification (preferred) ExperienceMinimum of 3 years of experience in commercial kitchensAt least 3 years of experience working in AustraliaMinimum of 1 year of specialising in Filipino cuisine and Filipino fusion conceptsProven experience in restaurants serving 250+ customers per dayMinimum 3 years of experience managing and supervising a kitchen team of 10 or more staffDemonstrated expertise in regional Filipino cuisine from Pampanga, Ilocos, Bicol, Cebu, Bacolod, Visayas, and MindanaoExtensive experience in burgers, smash patties, grilled meats, charcoal cooking, marination, fried chicken, barbecue, rice meals, and Filipino comfort foodExperience maintaining food consistency and quality during peak service periods Skills and knowledgeExpert knowledge of Filipino flavours and regional cooking techniquesAdvanced experience in burger preparation, meat handling, seasoning, and grilling techniquesStrong understanding of kitchen workflow optimisation in high-volume environmentsAbility to create and innovate menu items inspired by Filipino flavoursKnowledge of stock management, food costing, inventory control, and wastage reductionExceptional knife skills and plating standardsAbility to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment Additional requirements:Must currently reside in Melbourne, VictoriaMust be available to work evenings, weekends, and public holidaysMust possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s licenceAbility to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 kilogramsFluent in English and Filipino (Tagalog)Additional Filipino dialects such as Ilocano, Kapampangan, Cebuano, or Hiligaynon are highly regardedMust successfully complete a practical cooking assessment and reference checksPreferred candidates will also haveExperience working in burger restaurants or Filipino fast-food establishmentsExperience developing recipes that combine Filipino and Western flavoursExperience training junior chefs and maintaining kitchen standardsStrong leadership, organisational, and communication skills How to apply:Please submit your resume, copies of all relevant qualifications and certificates, references from previous employers, and a summary of your experience with Filipino cuisine and high-volume restaurant operations.Only shortlisted candidates who meet all requirements will be contacted.Pay: $75,000.00 – $79,450.00 per yearBenefits:
