Note: Starting base salary will be negotiated within this classification for the successful candidate, depending on experience and expertise. About the Role: Position Overview CHS has evolved to become the single provider of public hospital and health care services across the ACT. In July 2023 Canberra Health Services (CHS) joined with the newly named North Canberra Hospital to form a single public hospital and health service for the ACT. This built on the gradual expansion of CHS over recent years to offer a broader range of services across multiple sites:
  • Canberra Hospital - tertiary hospital
  • North Canberra Hospital - secondary acute hospital
  • University of Canberra Hospital - specialised rehabilitation (sub-acute hospital)
  • Clare Holland House - public palliative care service
  • Walk-in Centres - community facility for treatment of minor illness and injury
  • Community Health Centres - community facility for general and specialist services
  • Community based health services, such as early childhood services, youth and women’s health, dental health, mental health and alcohol and drug services.

This recent expansion along with ongoing developments across our acute, community, and specialty health services, reflects our dedication to meeting the needs of a growing and diverse population, with the full list of services to be offered under the community portfolio, yet to be formally finalised. The Community Portfolio delivers a range of multidisciplinary, community-based and inpatient services focused on prevention, early intervention, treatment, and ongoing management of health conditions. These services include Geriatrics, Rehabilitation, Nursing, Walk-in Centres, Breast Screen ACT, the Integrated Care Program, Renal Services, Women, Youth and Children, Community Paediatrics, the Spinal Pain Service, and components of the Chronic Pain Service, as well as services within the Rehabilitation and Aged Care Division. Services are delivered through a collaborative, patient-centred model of care that supports improved health outcomes for the ACT community and surrounding region. The services under the “Community” Portfolio are committed to continuous service improvement to ensure contemporary models of care, sustainable workforce practices, and safe, high-quality service delivery. The programs aim to foster a positive workplace culture and strong collaboration across clinical and operational teams to support the delivery of accessible and integrated community-based healthcare. The temporary contract is for an initial period of 12 months (1) year, with the possibility of extension. A Level 2 management allowance applies to this role.   • Hold Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Meet credentialing requirements and receive an Endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC)
  • Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
  • Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy
