Fixed term – 24 months Part time – 18.5 hours per week Closing date 06/06/25 at 23:30 Here at Sheffield Hallam University we are seeking to recruit a part time (18.5 hours) Senior Research Fellow to support the delivery of innovation in data and methods for community connectedness for the Centre for Collaboration in Community Connectedness (C4). The post will also support wider data science, economic and statistical demands in CRESR. The position requires strong teamwork and communication skills, reliability, attention to detail, effective time management, and the ability to work independently under the supervision of project and line managers. The role will include: Working with the colleagues to develop and implement an ambitious quantitative research programme To develop new models for understanding key determinants of community connectedness To engage in data science debates, notable around the scope for large natural language models to be used to predict community level outcomes and the role of community connectedness Supporting CRESR’s delivery of research contracts by providing data science as well as economic and statistical analysis Contributing to writing for academic publication. The role will involve jointly delivering work with the University of Stirling. The post is likely to contribute to the development of a new and interactive Community Needs Index, and to contribute intellectual leadership around data science, econometrics and statistical modelling. For instance developing new probabilistic modelling tools to help government, researchers and communities better understand and anticipate change community connectedness; including upstream predictors of factors which strengthen and factors which weaken community cohesion.
